Clinical Coders (Hospital DRG Coding)

Responsibilities:

• Perform accurate DRG coding for inpatient discharges and procedures from Day Surgery, Dental, and Endoscopy services.
• Complete clinical coding within required timelines to support timely submission of casemix data.
• Maintain coding turnaround time and accuracy standards, ensuring coding is completed within established service levels.
• Liaise with clinicians and healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses, procedures, and incomplete medical records for coding purposes.
• Provide coding-related information and clarification to relevant stakeholders within stipulated timelines.
• Conduct basic internal audits of coded cases to ensure coding quality and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with established coding guidelines, procedures, and standards.
• Support departmental initiatives and administrative functions as required.

Requirements:

• Degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Medicine, Nursing, Healthcare, or a related discipline.
• Preferably at least 1 year of clinical coding experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Good knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding standards and practices.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Good interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to interpret medical records accurately and apply appropriate coding classifications.
