Clinical Coding Specialist | $70/hr Remote

Position: Medical Coder

Type: Contract

Compensation: $50 - $70/hour

Location: Remote

Commitment: 10-40 hrs/week

Role Responsibilities

• Annotate and review inpatient medical records ensuring precise ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS code assignment.
• Identify principal and secondary diagnoses, sequence codes, and validate MS-DRG assignment.
• Apply inpatient-specific coding conventions and identify hospital-acquired conditions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure data integrity.
• Deliver feedback on coding guidelines to support workflow improvements and enhance AI model understanding.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of all coding-related annotations.

Requirements

• Active AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or AAPC Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) credential.
• Thorough expertise in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and MS-DRG methodology with strong relevant experience.
• Experience coding in diverse inpatient settings such as acute care and specialty units.
• Proficiency in reviewing and coding various types of clinical documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Access to current ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS code sets and MS-DRG grouper tools.
