Clinical Educator in Dietetics

Meredith College seeks qualified applicants for the position of Clinical Educator in Dietetics. This position is a full-time, eleven-month, instructor of professional practice, faculty appointment.

Duties

• Eighteen to twenty-one credit hour teaching load of DI and MSN supervised experiential learning and/or didactic coursework.
• Work both in designated hospital location(s) and on the Meredith College campus each week to educate students one-on-one or in small groups, both formally and informally.
• Precept dietetic interns and graduate students on a rotating schedule in cohorts at one designated hospital location in Medical Nutrition Therapy/Clinical Nutrition.
• Collaborate with the Program Director, hospital managers, and other community partners to plan and implement students’ schedules.
• Fulfill all nutrition competencies as required by the hospital.
• Model evidence-based practice, professional behavior, time management, and ethical practice.
• Assist interns and students in setting appropriate goals and schedules for completing competencies during the rotation.
• Identify and facilitate learning activities that support competencies/learning outcomes.
• Evaluate each intern/student's progress and provide timely formative feedback to students on strengths and opportunities for growth regarding their provision of Medical Nutrition Therapy and overall professionalism.
• Develop and lead campus-based clinical simulations and other alternate learning experiences in the Simulation Lab.
• Complete required supervised practice documentation in a timely manner.
• Collaborate regularly with the Program Director regarding student performance in supervised experiential learning sites, complete required documentation in a timely manner, and provide remediation when needed.
• Assist in development of programmatic materials including preceptor education materials, supervised experiential learning list of required learning activities, rubrics, and authentic simulations, and marketing materials.
• Collect and assess data to meet ACEND accreditation requirements.
• Participate in the application review and selection process for program candidates.
• Attend staff meetings at the hospital and college.
• Perform other miscellaneous tasks within the graduate office as identified by the Program Director and/or Department Chair.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nutrition Science, Dietetics, or Public Health. Credentialed by CDR as an active Registered Dietitian.
• At least three years of clinical nutrition experience is required.
• The successful candidate will provide evidence of initiative, maturity, professionalism, attention to detail, excellent organizational ability, time management, and interpersonal skills, which include high-quality oral and written communication skills.
