Clinical Instructor – Nursing

Job Purpose

To provide clinical education, coaching and competency development for nursing staff, ensuring safe, evidence-based nursing practice and continuous improvement in the quality of patient care.

Job Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and conduct clinical teaching, orientation and competency-based training for nurses within the assigned specialty area.
• Provide bedside coaching, clinical supervision and mentorship to strengthen nurses’ knowledge, skills and confidence in delivering safe patient care.
• Assess and monitor nursing competencies, identify learning gaps and develop appropriate training or improvement plans.
• Collaborate with Nursing Leaders, Nurse Educators and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement clinical guidelines, learning programmes and evidence-based nursing practices.
• Promote continuous professional development and nursing excellence through clinical audits, case discussions, skills assessments and ongoing evaluation of learning outcomes.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognised institution.

• Post Basic Nursing qualification is mandatory, relevant to the specialty applied for:

  • ICU: Post Basic in Critical Care Nursing
  • OT: Post Basic in Perioperative Nursing
  • General Ward: Relevant Post Basic qualification in Medical-Surgical Nursing or other related specialty

• Minimum 5 years of relevant clinical nursing experience, preferably within the respective specialty.

• Teaching Methodology qualification/module and experience as a Clinical Instructor, Preceptor or Mentor will be an added advantage.

• Strong clinical competency with good communication, presentation, coaching and interpersonal skills.
