Job Details

• Pay: $34.00–$44.00/hr.
• Location: Palo Alto, CA
• Shift Days: Rotating schedule, Monday–Sunday
• Shift Times: Rotating 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
• Contract: 13-week contract initially
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• End Date: January 24, 2027

Required Education:

• Minimum of 2 years of college education in Biology or a related field plus 3 years of experience in a life science or chemistry laboratory, OR 4 years of college education plus 1 year of laboratory experience.

Experience:

• Hands-on experience with sample handling, quantitative chemical analysis, enzyme assays, or procedures with equivalent complexity.
• Experience with basic laboratory procedures such as weight and volume measurements of chemicals, reagent preparation, pipetting, and centrifugation.
• Experience operating laboratory instruments, including automated measurement instruments.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel beyond basic data entry.
• Ability to follow established laboratory policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and ability to identify problems and implement corrective actions.
• Ability to accurately handle and process large volumes of laboratory samples.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare clinical samples and products for testing, including accessioning, aliquoting, and processing, following laboratory protocols.
• Identify discrepancies or missing information and ensure strict adherence to written laboratory procedures.
• Set up instruments, including programming instructions, specimen and reagent placement, and labware, for automated laboratory tasks.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments, including reagent replenishment, cleaning, and other required maintenance.
• Prepare reagents for the laboratory and replenish equipment supplies as needed.
• Document and transcribe quality control measures, including environmental readings, equipment function checks, and isolation quality control.
• Maintain sample inventories, including receiving, processing, storage, and disposal of laboratory samples.
• Update computer databases for sample tracking, labeling, and storage while ensuring data accuracy.
• Follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain confidentiality of patient, donor, and other sensitive information.
• Assist with laboratory workflow improvements, supply management, and other duties as assigned.
