Clinical Psychologist - Private Practice

About the role

Illumen is seeking a senior Clinical Psychologist to join our private practice in Freemans Bay, Auckland on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality psychological services in a supportive and collaborative clinical environment. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will play a vital role in providing evidence-based assessments, interventions, and therapeutic support to our diverse client base. This position offers the flexibility of contract work whilst maintaining the professional standards and clinical excellence that define our practice.

What you'll be doing

• Delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions utilising a range of modalities appropriate to client presentations

• Contributing to case consultation and clinical supervision where appropriate

• Maintaining professional development and staying current with contemporary psychological practice and research

• Support is given regarding admin, invoicing, and record keeping, so you can focus on delivering high quality clinical interventions without all the hassle.

What we're looking for

Essential

• Registration with the NZ Psychologists Board under the clinical scope, a current APC & professional indemnity insurance.
• A minimum of 7-10 years post-graduate experience in providing assessments and clinical/therapeutic interventions.
• Can deliver evidence-based modalities, such as CBT, DBT, CAT, ACT, and Mindfulness-based interventions.
• A willingness to working with complex cases, including Axis 2 presentations, and trauma interventions
• A willingness/interest to participate in peer supervision, workshops, interest groups

Desirable

• Interests in Schema Therapy (Illumen has a strong Schema Therapy focus)
• EMDR trained
• A willingness to work with teens/young people

Hours available

Full days:

• Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays
• Saturdays

Half days:

• Mon, Tues, or Weds 130pm – 8pm
• Thursday 3-8pm
• Wednesday 8am-1pm

We receive referrals from psychiatrists, GP’s, and self-referrals, presenting with a range of issues including the full spectrum of mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, adjustment, personality difficulties, emotional dysregulation, stress/burnout etc. We see a range of clients from different walks of life – the referrals are quite varied.

In addition to general adult mental health, we also specialise in innovative Virtual Reality based exposure therapy (VRET) for fears and phobias.

Illumen also has contracts with several Auckland based corporate firms and companies, such as law firms, and provide employee support services.

We have administration staff who provide administrative support. We are a social and collegial team, and run regular peer supervision sessions.
