About the role

The Clinical Supervisor plays a critical role in the delivery of rehabilitation services to address offending behaviour, contributing to the creation of a safer community for all Western Australians.

The Rehabilitation and Reintegration branch (R&R) of Corrective Services is responsible for offender rehabilitation programs and the delivery of interventions that aim to improve offenders’ lives and reduce the likelihood of future re-offending.

As a clinical leader in Offender Programs, you will work with a diverse team of clinicians, from new graduates to experienced practitioners, with a variety of professional backgrounds. You will be responsible for supporting staff in their delivery of evidence-based, therapeutic interventions to offenders in custody and in the community.

If you value excellence in clinical practice, find meaning in supporting the development of practitioners across the continuum of professional experience, and are seeking a challenging and rewarding working environment to further develop your clinical skills, this is your opportunity to grow your career while building high performing clinical teams focused on supporting behaviour change towards a safer community.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead evidence based, criminogenic clinical practice within the Offender Programs team.
  • Identify and resolve complex clinical issues and build clinicians’ capabilities through training, supervision and ongoing professional development activities.
  • Support clinical staff to develop the highest standards of ethical, professional practice.
  • Further develop your clinical skills by conducting assessments with and delivering interventions to offenders with complex needs.
  • Provide expert clinical advice to the Offender Programs management team, releasing authorities and other stakeholders involved with offender management.
  • Build collaborative and productive relationships across clinical, custodial and support teams within Corrective Services to deliver sustainable rehabilitation services to offenders in custody and in the community.

Who we’re looking for:

We are seeking skilled and responsive clinical leaders who thrive in complex environments and value integrity and ethical conduct in the provision of services to a diverse client group with complex needs.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in providing high calibre clinical leadership and supervision to a team of clinicians from diverse professional backgrounds.
  • Strong skills in the provision of culturally responsive services and the ability to ensure clinical services are delivered in a culturally appropriate way.
  • A collaborative, responsive and adaptable approach to service delivery.
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and the delivery of clinical services with a high level of integrity.
  • A focus on reflective and supportive practice in the development of high performing clinical teams.
  • A proactive approach to the management of issues affecting service delivery and focus on continuous improvement in relation to clinical practice and clinical services.

Benefits and Opportunities

  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Career pathway opportunities
  • Learning and development opportunity programs
  • Health and wellbeing programs including Fitness passport providing a wide range of gym, pool, and fitness Centre discounts available for employees and their families.

When you join the Department of Justice, you become part of a people-focused organisation, working hard to make our community a fairer and safer place to live.
