Closing Dishwasher

Job Summary

The Closing Dishwasher is responsible for ensuring all dishes, utensils, containers, and washable restaurant

equipment are properly cleaned, sanitized, and returned to their designated locations each night. This is a

dedicated dishwasher position. The purpose of this role is to complete the restaurant’s closing dish

responsibilities and ensure the opening team begins the next business day with clean, organized, and

ready-to-use equipment. This position is not part of the normal Front of House or Back of House operational

rotation and is not designed as a training pathway into other restaurant positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Arrive at 8:00 PM ready to begin work.
  • Wash, rinse, sanitize, and properly handle dishes and equipment from both Front of House and Back of

House.

  • Clean dishes and equipment used in the handling and preparation of raw chicken, following all required

food-safety procedures.

  • Maintain proper separation and sanitation procedures when handling raw-chicken dishes.
  • Ensure dishes are free of food residue, grease, and debris before being put away.
  • Handle dishes and restaurant equipment carefully to prevent damage or breakage.
  • Return all clean items to their correct designated locations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe dishwashing area.
  • Complete all assigned closing dish responsibilities before leaving for the night.
  • Notify a leader of damaged, missing, or malfunctioning equipment.

Requirements

This is a physically active position. The Closing Dishwasher must be able to:

  • Remain on their feet for the majority of the shift.
  • Work efficiently and with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Maintain attention to detail while working quickly.
  • Work around water, hot water, steam, wet surfaces, and approved cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.
  • Frequently have hands in or around water.
  • Bend, reach, lift, carry, and repeatedly move dishes and restaurant equipment.
  • Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements.
  • Safely handle dishes and equipment that have been exposed to raw chicken.
  • Work independently and remain focused on completing the assigned dish responsibilities.

Reasonable accommodations will be considered for qualified individuals in accordance with applicable law.

What Success Looks Like

  • A successful Closing Dishwasher is fast, thorough, dependable, organized, and careful.
  • At the end of the shift, assigned dishes and washable equipment should be clean and sanitized, items

should be returned to their proper locations, and the dish area should be clean and organized.

The standard is simple:

  • Leave the restaurant’s dishes and equipment ready for the opening team to begin the next day

successfully.

  • Important Position Expectation
  • Applicants should understand that they are applying specifically for a Closing Dishwasher position.

The primary and ongoing responsibility of this role is dishwashing. Team members in this position are not

normally scheduled to work Front Counter, Drive-Thru, food production, or other operational positions.

Dishwashing responsibilities and schedules may be shared among multiple employees hired for this role based

on the needs of Chick-fil-A Highland Lakes.
