Closing Sales Associate/Cashier

Job Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for managing retail transactions efficiently, providing exceptional service, and ensuring the store’s closing procedures are completed accurately. Duties

• Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately during retail sales transactions, including cash handling, credit card processing, and balancing the cash drawer at shift end
• Assist customers with product inquiries, provide product demos when applicable, and upsell items to enhance their shopping experience
• Ensure proper stocking of merchandise on the sales floor and organize displays to promote featured products and seasonal items
• Maintain excellent phone etiquette when answering customer inquiries or assisting via phone calls
• Conduct retail store product knowledge sharing and merchandising to optimize sales opportunities
• Perform closing procedures such as reconciling cash register totals, preparing daily sales reports, and securing the cash drawer
• Support in supervising team members during shift transitions, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to store policies

Requirements

• Previous experience with POS systems, cash register operations, or cashiering is preferred
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in both English and bilingual settings if applicable
• Knowledge of retail math for accurate cash handling, sales calculations, and inventory management
• Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately for daily transactions and balancing registers
• Excellent customer service skills with a friendly attitude and professional phone etiquette
• Familiarity with retail store product knowledge, merchandising techniques, and upselling strategies
• Ability to stand for extended periods, handle physical stocking tasks, and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
• Able to work without being on personal phone
