Cloud & DevOps Engineer

About the role

As a Cloud and DevOps Engineer , you will help maintain and improve the infrastructure that powers healthcare technology solutions. You will work across cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, containers, monitoring, and data workflows to ensure the platform remains reliable, secure, and efficient.

This is an opportunity for an early-career engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, learning new technologies, and taking ownership of tasks from investigation through implementation. You will collaborate with engineers, product teams, and clinical experts while gaining hands-on experience supporting a production healthcare platform.

You won't be expected to know everything from day one. What matters most is your ability to learn quickly, solve problems independently, and use modern tools, including AI-assisted development tools, to build and deliver practical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cloud Infrastructure: Help maintain and improve cloud environments across platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, ensuring infrastructure is reliable and efficient.
• DevOps and CI/CD: Support the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, containers, and related infrastructure.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor system performance, investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to improve reliability.
• Containerisation and Linux: Work with Linux environments, Docker, and related tools to support application deployment and operations.
• Infrastructure Automation: Contribute to infrastructure automation and infrastructure-as-code practices to improve consistency and reduce manual work.
• Data Pipeline Support: Help build, maintain, and troubleshoot data pipelines and ETL processes to ensure data moves accurately and securely across systems.
• Security and Reliability: Support secure handling of sensitive data and help maintain stable, reliable production environments.
• AI-Assisted Development: Use AI coding tools to explore unfamiliar codebases, automate tasks, troubleshoot problems, and deliver working solutions efficiently.
• Documentation: Document technical solutions, infrastructure processes, and lessons learned to improve knowledge sharing across the team.
• Collaboration and Continuous Learning: Work with engineering, product, and clinical teams to understand technical needs, deliver improvements, and adapt as the platform evolves.

Requirements:

Experience and Technical Skills

• 2+ years of hands-on engineering experience. Internships, graduate roles, freelance work, and substantial personal projects are all relevant.
• Solid knowledge of Python and SQL.
• Comfortable working with the Linux command line, Git, and Docker.
• Hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Exposure to building or maintaining data pipelines.
• Experience using AI coding tools, such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor, to build and deliver working software.
• Good English communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

Nice to have:

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and monitoring or alerting tools.
• Familiarity with orchestration and data tools such as Airflow, dbt, or Superset.
• Exposure to machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, or PyTorch, and MLOps tools such as MLflow.
• Experience in web or backend development.
• Experience handling sensitive or regulated data, particularly in healthcare.
