Work Schedule: 3 days remote / 2 days onsite (Thursday & Friday)

Job Description

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking an experienced Cloud Solutions Architect 2 to lead cloud architecture, IT modernization, and Data Center Operations (DCO) transformation initiatives.

The selected candidate will design and implement scalable, secure, and highly available cloud and hybrid solutions supporting enterprise-wide technology needs. This role will work closely with enterprise architects, CTO leadership, application development teams, infrastructure teams, portfolio managers, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Lead cloud architecture and modernization initiatives supporting enterprise applications and infrastructure.

Design cloud solutions across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or GCP environments.

Develop architectural blueprints, network topologies, technical specifications, and solution designs.

Support migration from on-premises infrastructure to public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.

Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud automation solutions.

Design and support CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, containerization, and microservices.

Architect and support Kubernetes clusters and serverless infrastructure.

Utilize automation technologies including Terraform, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, and Azure ARM templates.

Develop and maintain cloud security, identity and access management, governance, compliance, and data protection controls.

Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.

Implement cloud monitoring, auditing, logging, and operational tools.

Work with technologies such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, GCP Cloud Operations, Dynatrace, Sysdig Secure, and other cloud-native monitoring tools.

Lead cross-functional technology initiatives involving multiple HHSC teams and state agencies.

Perform technology assessments, gap analysis, systems analysis, and architectural planning.

Develop scalable cloud infrastructure supporting application integration, reporting, and enterprise systems.

Support cloud database services, data lakes, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data integration initiatives.

Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and support multiple overlapping projects.

Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standards, procedures, and best practices.

Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering and architecture teams.

Required Skills & Experience

7+ years of experience in IT architecture, systems engineering, cloud architecture, or related technology roles.
