Cloud Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Cloud Engineer - Azure to manage, optimize, secure, and support enterprise cloud infrastructure and business-critical applications hosted on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in Azure PaaS and IaaS services, production deployments, cloud networking, database administration, security, monitoring, troubleshooting, and cloud cost optimization.

The role involves managing Azure-based application platforms, databases, networking, integrations, security services, deployment pipelines, disaster recovery operations, and vendor relationships while ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance across enterprise environments. Exposure to AWS cloud services and multi-cloud environments will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

Azure Infrastructure Management

• Design, deploy, configure, and manage Azure cloud infrastructure.
• Manage Azure Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts, Availability Sets, Availability Zones, and backup solutions.
• Maintain Production, UAT, QA, Staging, and Development environments.
• Perform infrastructure provisioning, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management activities.
• Ensure platform scalability, reliability, and availability.

Application Hosting Platform Services

• Manage Azure App Services, Web Apps, and related Azure PaaS services.
• Support application hosting, configuration, scaling, and performance optimization.
• Monitor application health, availability, and throughput.
• Configure and manage deployment slots and scaling policies.
• Troubleshoot application performance and availability issues.

Database Administration

• Manage Azure SQL Databases and SQL Managed Instances.
• Perform backup, restore, security management, and database maintenance activities.
• Monitor and tune database performance.
• Execute database deployment and migration activities.
• Support high availability and disaster recovery planning.

Deployment Release Management

• Plan, coordinate, and execute application, database, and infrastructure deployments across environments.
• Manage production deployment activities with minimal downtime.
• Support CI/CD implementation using Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, or similar platforms.
• Execute database schema changes, migration scripts, and release activities.
• Prepare deployment plans, rollback strategies, and deployment documentation.
• Perform post-deployment validations and service health checks.
• Coordinate release activities with Development, QA, Product, Support, and Business teams.
• Participate in Change Management and CAB approval processes.
• Maintain release notes and deployment audit trails.
• Azure Networking

Configure and manage:

• Virtual Networks (VNets)
• Subnets
• Network Security Groups (NSGs)
• Route Tables
• VPN Gateways
• Private Endpoints
• Azure DNS
• Load Balancers
• Troubleshoot cloud networking and connectivity issues.
• Support hybrid and multi-cloud networking requirements.

Security Governance

• Implement and manage Azure security controls and best practices.

• Configure and support:

• Azure Front Door

• Web Application Firewall (WAF)

• RBAC

• Azure Key Vault

• Azure Defender

• Security Policies

• Manage SSL certificates, firewall rules, and security configurations.

• Support audit, compliance, and vulnerability remediation initiatives.

• Monitoring, Logging Analytics

• Azure Monitor

• Log Analytics Workspace

• Application Insights

• Diagnostic Settings

• Alerts Action Groups

• Analyze infrastructure and application logs.

• Perform root cause analysis for production incidents.

• Create dashboards, operational reports, and monitoring solutions.

• Implement proactive monitoring and performance optimization measures.

• Integration Services

Manage and support:

• Azure Service Bus
• Azure Logic Apps
• API Integrations
• Event-driven Integrations
• Monitor message queues, topics, subscriptions, and integration workflows.
• Troubleshoot integration and messaging issues.

Cloud Cost Optimization (FinOps)

• Monitor Azure resource consumption and billing.
• Identify and implement cost optimization opportunities.
• Perform resource rightsizing and utilization reviews.
• Recommend Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and resource optimization strategies.
• Generate periodic cost reports and provide optimization recommendations.

Troubleshooting Incident Management

• Provide L2/L3 support for cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Resolve platform, application, database, networking, and security incidents.
• Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
• Support 24x7 business-critical production environments when required.

Disaster Recovery Business Continuity

• Support Disaster Recovery (DR) planning, testing, and execution.
• Participate in periodic restoration and DR drills.
• Ensure backup and recovery objectives are maintained.
• Coordinate with infrastructure and business teams during recovery activities.

Vendor Management

• Coordinate with cloud providers, software vendors, security partners, and managed service providers.
• Manage support tickets, escalations, and vendor communications.
• Track vendor deliverables, SLAs, and service performance.
• Assist in evaluating cloud technologies and service offerings.
• Data Center Infrastructure Operations
• Support cloud-hosted and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Coordinate infrastructure maintenance activities.
