Cloud Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer to join a large, complex ICT environment in Brisbane on a contract through to 30 June 2027 .

This is a hands-on engineering role focused heavily on AWS , working across both operational support and technical project delivery. You’ll be responsible for designing, building, maintaining and troubleshooting cloud services, automation and associated hybrid-cloud infrastructure.

What you’ll be doing

• Design, build, configure and support secure and scalable AWS and hybrid-cloud environments
• Provide hands-on support across EC2, S3, EBS, VPC, AWS Organizations and IAM
• Troubleshoot incidents, service requests, performance issues and technical defects
• Develop infrastructure automation and serverless solutions
• Work with Terraform, PowerShell, Python, Lambda and SQS
• Monitor cloud service health, capacity, performance, security and lifecycle requirements
• Contribute to technical planning, solution decisions, implementation activities and risk management
• Work closely with infrastructure specialists and multidisciplinary project teams
• Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally bring:

• Strong recent, hands-on AWS engineering and support experience
• Experience across EC2, S3, EBS, VPC, AWS Organizations and IAM
• Infrastructure-as-code / automation experience using Terraform
• Scripting capability with PowerShell and/or Python
• Experience with serverless AWS technologies including Lambda and SQS
• Strong troubleshooting skills across AWS and hybrid-cloud environments
• Experience with Active Directory, Azure AD and Windows Server 2016/2019
• Working knowledge of the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM)

• AWS database experience across RDS, Aurora and DynamoDB
• Linux administration
• AWS administration certification
• Exchange / Exchange Online experience
• Queensland Government experience
• Experience within complex enterprise ICT environments

The opportunity

This is a Brisbane-based contract running through to 30 June 2027, suited to someone who enjoys being genuinely hands-on with AWS rather than operating purely at an architecture or advisory level. The environment combines BAU cloud operations with technical project work, so you’ll get exposure across both support and delivery.
