What they need

About the Role

ElmGrid Technologies is hiring a Cloud Engineer to support the cloud infrastructure behind renewable energy data collection and reporting. You'll help maintain reliable cloud systems, build deployment pipelines, and ensure monitoring tools identify issues before they disrupt data availability.

This role suits an engineer with at least three years of experience working with AWS or Azure who can troubleshoot production issues, automate routine tasks, and take responsibility for the accuracy and reliability of data pipelines.

What You'll Do

  • Build, configure, and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS or Microsoft Azure.
  • Develop and maintain deployment pipelines to support reliable application releases.
  • Use infrastructure as code to manage cloud resources consistently across environments.
  • Configure logging, monitoring, and alerts to identify service interruptions and performance problems.
  • Manage databases, backup processes, and recovery procedures for data platforms.
  • Investigate production incidents, identify root causes, and implement appropriate fixes.
  • Write scripts in Python or Bash to automate operational tasks and reduce repetitive manual work.
  • Monitor data pipelines and investigate missing, delayed, or inconsistent renewable energy data.
  • Test code and infrastructure changes before deploying them to production.
  • Document technical issues, corrective actions, and changes to cloud systems.
  • Communicate system status, data quality concerns, and deployment risks clearly to relevant stakeholders.

What You'll Bring

  • At least three years of professional experience working with AWS or Azure.
  • Practical experience building and maintaining cloud infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code tools and deployment automation.
  • Scripting skills in Python or Bash.
  • Experience with logging, monitoring, alerting, and production troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of databases, backups, and data platform reliability.
  • Familiarity with version control, testing, and documented deployment procedures.
  • The ability to investigate technical problems methodically and explain the fixes.
  • Strong attention to detail when checking code, system changes, and incoming data.
  • An interest in renewable energy, environmental data, or systems that collect information from field equipment.

What We Expect

We expect careful work and straightforward communication. Data should be checked before being treated as reliable, code should be tested before deployment, and production issues should be documented clearly.

If a data feed contains incorrect, incomplete, or unexpected information, you'll be expected to investigate it, report the problem promptly, and keep the relevant people informed until the issue is understood and addressed.

Working Schedule

This is a full-time position based in West Columbia, South Carolina, with a standard working schedule of Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM.

How to Apply

Submit your Resume highlighting your cloud engineering experience, relevant certifications, and hands-on work with AWS or Azure. Include examples of infrastructure automation, deployment pipelines, monitoring systems, or troubleshooting projects where possible.
