This is a hands-on role focused on platform engineering, automation, security, networking, resilience and cloud operations. You'll work at enterprise scale, helping to shape and support the cloud platforms that underpin critical business services across Asda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, support and continuously improve Azure platform services.
  • Enhance Azure Landing Zones, governance frameworks and security controls.
  • Deliver and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines and automation solutions.
  • Increase platform reliability, resilience and observability.
  • Support cloud modernisation initiatives across the organisation.
  • Partner with engineering teams to enable secure and scalable cloud adoption.
  • Contribute to technical standards, best practices and platform roadmaps.

Essential Technical Skills

  • Microsoft Azure (enterprise-scale environments)
  • Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • GitHub, GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps
  • Azure Landing Zones, Policy and Governance
  • Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC and Privileged Identity Management (PIM)
  • Azure Networking, including vWAN, ExpressRoute, DNS and Private Endpoints
  • Azure Firewall, Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Azure Front Door
  • Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and observability tooling
  • Platform engineering, automation and technical leadership

Desirable Skills

  • FinOps and cloud cost optimisation
  • Azure Container Apps and/or Kubernetes
  • Experience supporting AI services and AI-enabled workloads
  • Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305 or equivalent
  • Experience within retail or large-scale enterprise organisations

About You

You'll be an experienced cloud engineer with strong expertise across Azure, Terraform, GitHub and DevOps practices. You'll take a pragmatic approach to automation, governance and operational excellence, with the ability to lead complex engineering initiatives and influence technical decisions within a large enterprise environment.

You'll be comfortable working collaboratively with engineering teams, driving platform improvements, and balancing innovation with security, scalability and reliability.

Everything you'll love

To ensure we balance moments where we know we need to collaborate together and the need for flexibility, Asda has a hybrid way of working with a minimum 3 days a week in one of our Home Offices. Over and above this, each area of Asda may have additional requirements which may require spending more days in the office, visiting suppliers, stores or depots.

You will also get an excellent benefits package including:

  • Discretionary company bonus
  • Company pension up to 7% matched
  • Company Car allowance of £5,700
  • 15% colleague discount in store and online
  • Free access to wellbeing services such as Stream, 24/7 virtual GP, counselling, health and dental cash plans and a 24/7 employee assistance helpline, alongside discounts across a range of services and activities, from airport parking, enhanced to theme parks and cinemas.
  • Asda Allies Inclusion Networks – helping colleagues to make sure everybody is included and that our differences are recognised and celebrated
  • Excellent parental leave policies, including maternity & adoption leave, paternity leave, shared parental leave, neonatal care leave, and support for those doing fertility treatments.

We want all colleagues to be able to bring their best and true selves to work, every day. Simply put, we want our colleagues to be Proud to be Asda and proud to be themselves
