Cloud Infrastructure Consultant

Vcloud Solutions Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Consultant to design, deploy, and optimise enterprise cloud and hybrid infrastructure across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. In this senior client-facing consulting position, you will lead infrastructure assessments and large-scale cloud migrations, design highly available landing zones and network topologies, automate provisioning through Infrastructure as Code, and advise stakeholders on platform resilience, performance, and cost optimisation.

Responsibilities include the following:

• Assess existing on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments and design target-state infrastructure architectures across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Plan and execute end-to-end cloud migration programs, including server, storage, database, and virtual desktop workload transitions with minimal business disruption.
• Design and configure enterprise network topologies including VPC/VNet architecture, hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, site-to-site VPN), routing, load balancing, and DNS.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code deployments using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, and CI/CD pipelines to enable repeatable, auditable, and version-controlled provisioning.
• Design and implement cloud landing zones, subscription and account structures, tagging standards, and governance guardrails aligned to the Well-Architected and Cloud Adoption Frameworks.
• Architect high-availability, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions that meet agreed RTO and RPO targets across public, private, and hybrid platforms.
• Configure and administer identity and directory services including Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Group Policy, single sign-on, and conditional access integration.
• Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity; conduct root-cause analysis on complex infrastructure incidents; and implement tuning and remediation activities.
• Perform cloud consumption analysis and FinOps optimisation, including rightsizing, reserved capacity planning, and licence rationalisation, and report realised savings to stakeholders.
• Prepare technical documentation including as-built designs, migration plans, runbooks, and effort estimates, and present architecture recommendations to client and executive stakeholders.

Skills and Experience required

Skills:

• Deep hands-on expertise across AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform compute, storage, networking, and identity services.
• Strong virtualisation and data centre background including VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Windows Server, and Linux system administration.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code and automation using Terraform, Bicep/ARM, PowerShell, Bash, and Python.
• Advanced enterprise networking knowledge covering TCP/IP, routing and switching, firewalls, hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, VPN), load balancing, and DNS.
• Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS/EKS/GKE) and modern CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
• Practical knowledge of digital workspace and end-user computing platforms including Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Citrix.
• Working knowledge of cloud governance, security baselines, and compliance and service management frameworks (ISO/IEC 27001, ACSC Essential Eight, ITIL).
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Industry certifications such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), AWS Certified Solutions Architect, VMware VCP, and ITIL certified.
• Minimum 20+ years of overall professional hands-on experience in the Infrastructure domain and digital workspace, including more than 9 years designing and delivering enterprise cloud solutions.

Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

·         Industry certifications completed such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), AWS Certified Solutions Architect, VMware VCP, and ITIL certified.

Experience:

·         Minimum 20 + years of overall professional hands-on experience in the Infrastructure domain and digital workspace, including more than 9 years designing and delivering enterprise cloud infrastructure solutions, and at least 4–5 years in a specialised Cloud Infrastructure Consultant or senior client-facing consulting capacity.
