Cloud Operations Engineer – Infrastructure

Key Responsibilities

• Design, operate and continuously improve reliable, scalable and secure cloud infrastructure supporting production workloads.
• Manage and optimise multi-account AWS environments, ensuring infrastructure is secure, repeatable and auditable.
• Provision, administer, upgrade and troubleshoot production Kubernetes clusters, primarily on Amazon EKS.
• Support Kubernetes networking, service discovery, autoscaling, observability and capacity management.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using Terraform and other Infrastructure as Code tools.
• Build and improve GitOps and CI/CD workflows using tools such as FluxCD, Argo CD or equivalent platforms.
• Monitor platform reliability and improve alerting, incident response, operational documentation and post-incident reviews.
• Investigate and resolve production issues across AWS, Kubernetes, Linux, networking and distributed services.
• Develop scripts and automation using Python, Go, Shell or other suitable languages.
• Collaborate with application engineering, security and architecture teams to improve platform reliability and operational efficiency.
• Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation supporting production cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least two years of hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, platform engineering, Site Reliability Engineering or a related area.
• Practical experience working with AWS services such as EKS, IAM, VPC, EC2 and S3.
• Hands-on experience supporting Kubernetes in a production or business-critical environment.
• Experience with infrastructure automation using Terraform or a similar Infrastructure as Code tool.
• Good Linux administration and troubleshooting skills, including networking, system services and performance analysis.
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
• Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, incident response and production troubleshooting.
• Ability to automate operational tasks using Python, Go, Shell or a similar language.
• Strong analytical, communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to participate in a scheduled on-call rotation.

Preferred Experience

• Kubernetes tools and components such as Helm, CRDs, HPA, Cluster Autoscaler, CoreDNS or Cluster API.
• GitOps platforms such as FluxCD or Argo CD.
• Istio or another service-mesh technology.
• SRE practices such as Service Level Objectives, Error Budgets and post-incident reviews.
• NVIDIA device plugins, GPU scheduling or Kubernetes-based GPU workloads.
• Azure, Alibaba Cloud or another public cloud platform.
• CKA, CKAD, CKS or other relevant cloud and Kubernetes certifications.
