Cloud Operations SRE

The client needs a hands-on Cloud Operations SRE who can keep a large, highly regulated cloud environment secure, stable, and running smoothly. The main focus is Azure and GCP, with working knowledge of AWS/OCI, AKS/Kubernetes, Linux, Terraform, database support, and cloud security. They also need someone who can handle production incidents, vulnerability remediation, releases, capacity and quota planning, and support AI/ML infrastructure and ModelOps. Experience with governance, audit readiness, disaster recovery, and banking or other regulated environments is important.

Role : Cloud Operations SRE

Location: Pittsburgh, PA / New York, NY / Lake Mary, FL — 3 days onsite per week.

• Azure & GCP: Hands-on production cloud operations, provisioning, configuration, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
• AKS/Kubernetes & Linux: Container platform support, Linux administration, and production troubleshooting.
• Terraform & Automation: Infrastructure as Code, cloud provisioning, remediation, and scripting using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Cloud Security: Configuration remediation, vulnerability management, patching, Wiz, Qualys, firewall management, and network security controls.
• Monitoring & Incident Management: Splunk, logging, alerting, incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management.
• Database Support: Azure SQL Managed Instance (SQL MI) and/or Oracle platform support.
• Release & Capacity Management: Controlled production deployments, validation, rollback planning, cloud quotas, service limits, capacity forecasting, and resource planning.
• AI/ML Infrastructure & ModelOps: Supporting AI/ML runtime environments, model deployment pipelines, monitoring, and model lifecycle controls.
• Governance & Resiliency: Audit evidence, compliance controls, risk remediation, business continuity, disaster recovery, and operational recovery.

Secondary Skills (Preferred)

• AWS and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) experience.
• FedRAMP High or experience in similarly regulated cloud environments, especially banking or financial services.
• Cloud governance, policy-as-code, container security, and secure configuration practices.
• MLOps/ModelOps tools, AI model serving, CI/CD pipelines, and GPU-enabled environments.
• Identity and access management, secrets management, and secure platform design.
• Enterprise change management, release orchestration, and deployment governance.
• Cloud consumption reporting, demand forecasting, quota management, and capacity planning at scale.
• Experience with regulatory exams, internal/external audits, control testing, and remediation programs.
• Azure, GCP, AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Splunk, Wiz, or Qualys certifications.

My recommendation: Prioritize candidates with strong hands-on Azure and GCP production support, Terraform, AKS/Kubernetes, Linux, and cloud security experience. They should also understand incident management, capacity planning, and regulated production operations. AI/ML infrastructure and ModelOps knowledge are important differentiators, while FedRAMP High or banking experience would make a candidate even stronger.
