Cloud Security Engineer

Nova Harbor Systems is looking for a Cloud Security Engineer in Los Angeles to help secure cloud infrastructure, improve security controls and support the teams responsible for building and running business systems.

Cloud security requires more than putting security tools in place. You need to understand how systems connect, where access should be limited and what to look for when something does not look right. In this role, you’ll work across cloud infrastructure, identity, networking and security monitoring while helping reduce risk and improve the overall security of cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor cloud environments for security events and potential threats
• Configure and maintain cloud security controls and policies
• Manage IAM roles, permissions and access controls
• Review security alerts, vulnerabilities and configuration issues
• Investigate security incidents and support incident response activities
• Apply security best practices across cloud infrastructure and applications
• Review network security groups, firewalls and cloud network configurations
• Support vulnerability assessments and remediation efforts
• Help secure cloud deployments and infrastructure changes
• Monitor encryption, logging and security configurations
• Work with development and infrastructure teams on security requirements
• Support security assessments, audits and compliance activities
• Develop and maintain security documentation and procedures
• Automate routine security checks and tasks where appropriate
• Stay informed about cloud security threats and emerging technologies

Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of experience in cloud security, cybersecurity or cloud engineering
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure or another major cloud platform
• Strong understanding of IAM, networking and cloud security controls
• Experience with vulnerability management and security monitoring
• Understanding of cloud logging, encryption and access management
• Familiarity with security tools, SIEM platforms or cloud-native security services
• Experience with scripting such as Python, PowerShell or Bash is a plus
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform is helpful
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Good communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work with engineering, infrastructure and IT teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field preferred
• AWS, Azure, Security+ or other security certifications are a plus
