Cloud Security Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to help protect cloud infrastructure, applications, and business data. This role focuses on identifying security weaknesses, implementing appropriate controls, monitoring potential threats, and supporting the secure operation of cloud environments.

You will work with technical teams to review cloud configurations, investigate security alerts, improve access controls, and address vulnerabilities. The position requires sound technical judgement, a practical approach to security, and the ability to explain risks and recommended solutions clearly.

Key Responsibilities

• Review cloud infrastructure and services to identify security gaps, misconfigurations, and potential vulnerabilities.
• Implement and maintain security controls across cloud environments.
• Configure identity and access management policies, permissions, and authentication controls.
• Monitor security alerts and investigate suspicious activity involving cloud resources.
• Support incident response activities, including investigation, documentation, and remediation.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate corrective actions with engineering and IT teams.
• Review cloud network configurations, encryption settings, logging, and data protection controls.
• Maintain secure configuration standards and ensure changes follow established security procedures.
• Support security assessments, technical audits, and compliance-related activities.
• Maintain accurate security documentation, investigation records, and remediation reports.
• Recommend improvements that strengthen cloud security while minimising disruption to business operations.
• Work with technical colleagues to incorporate security considerations into cloud deployments and infrastructure changes.

Skills and Qualifications

• Professional experience in cloud security, information security, cloud engineering, or a related technical field.
• Working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Understanding of identity and access management, network security, encryption, and cloud security controls.
• Experience reviewing cloud configurations and identifying vulnerabilities or security risks.
• Familiarity with security monitoring, logging, alert investigation, and incident response procedures.
• Understanding of vulnerability management and security remediation practices.
• Ability to document technical findings and explain security issues clearly.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with IT, infrastructure, and engineering teams.

Experience with infrastructure as code, cloud security posture management tools, security information and event management platforms, or recognised security frameworks would be beneficial.

What We Expect

We expect security findings to be investigated carefully, documented accurately, and communicated clearly. Recommended fixes should address the underlying risk, and unresolved issues should be tracked through to completion.

The successful candidate will balance security requirements with operational needs, use evidence to support recommendations, and work constructively with colleagues to strengthen the organisation's security posture.

Pay: $135,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
