Cluster Chief Engineer

About the role

The Cluster Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing engineering, maintenance, and technical operations across multiple hotels and restaurants within the assigned cluster. The role ensures all properties maintain safe, efficient, reliable, and well-maintained facilities while meeting company, brand, and regulatory standards. The position requires regular travel between properties and strong coordination with General Managers, hotel leadership, restaurant teams, and property engineering departments.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee engineering and maintenance operations across multiple hotels and restaurants within the assigned cluster
• Lead, supervise, and develop engineering and maintenance teams across different properties
• Ensure all buildings, facilities, equipment, and technical systems are maintained to the required standards
• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs across the cluster
• Conduct regular property inspections and technical audits
• Monitor maintenance performance, outstanding work orders, equipment condition, and recurring technical issues
• Ensure critical systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water systems, kitchen equipment, elevators, generators, and fire & life safety systems are properly maintained
• Support General Managers and property leadership with technical advice and operational solutions
• Manage external contractors, suppliers, and service providers
• Monitor maintenance costs, quotations, purchase requests, and service contracts

About you

• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in hotel engineering, maintenance, or facilities management
• Proven experience in a Chief Engineer, Cluster Chief Engineer, Engineering Manager, or equivalent senior engineering position
• Strong experience in hotels and restaurants is required
• Experience managing engineering operations across multiple properties is highly preferred
• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, water systems, kitchen equipment, and fire & life safety systems
• Experience managing contractors, suppliers, maintenance budgets, and technical projects
• Strong leadership and team-management skills
• Good understanding of preventive maintenance and asset management
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Willingness to travel regularly between properties is required
