CMDB Administrator

The CMDB Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and improving the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to ensure accurate tracking of IT assets, configuration items (CIs), and their relationships. The role supports IT Service Management (ITSM) processes including Incident, Problem, Change, Asset, and Configuration Management. }

Key Responsibilities

CMDB Management

• Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of CMDB data.
• Define and manage Configuration Items (CIs) and CI relationships.
• Perform regular CMDB audits, reconciliations, and data quality checks.
• Develop and maintain CMDB governance standards and policies.

Discovery & Integration

• Configure and support automated discovery tools.
• Integrate CMDB with ITSM, Asset Management, Monitoring, and Discovery platforms.
• Troubleshoot CMDB data synchronization and integration issues.

Process Improvement

• Support Configuration Management processes aligned with ITIL best practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve CMDB processes and data quality.
• Develop reports, dashboards, and KPIs related to CMDB health and compliance.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Application, Security, and Service Management teams.
• Provide guidance on CI modeling and relationship mapping.
• Conduct training sessions for CMDB users and stakeholders.

Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure CMDB compliance with organizational policies and audit requirements.
• Generate regular reports on CI accuracy, data completeness, and configuration compliance.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of ITIL Configuration Management processes.
• Experience with CMDB platforms such as ServiceNow CMDB, BMC Helix, Ivanti, or Remedy.
• Knowledge of Discovery tools and Asset Management.
• Understanding of Servers, Networks, Cloud, Applications, and Infrastructure components.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with reporting and dashboard creation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• ITIL Foundation certification (preferred).
• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS-CMDB) preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in CMDB, ITSM, Asset Management, or Configuration Management.
