CMM Programmer / Applications Engineer

Cullerton Group is seeking an experienced CMM Programmer / Applications Engineer to join an established manufacturer of precision metrology and coordinate measuring equipment in New Hudson, Michigan.

This position combines hands-on CMM programming, dimensional metrology, technical applications support, customer demonstrations, and training. The ideal candidate has strong experience with CAMIO, PolyWorks, PC-DMIS, or comparable CMM software, excellent GD&T knowledge, and the ability to troubleshoot complex measurement applications.

Salary: $65,000–$95,000 annually

Travel: 50%+ throughout the United States

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CMM Programmer or Metrology Engineer looking to expand into a customer-facing technical role with opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, optimize, and troubleshoot CMM programs using industry-standard metrology software.
• Demonstrate CMM hardware and software capabilities to customers.
• Provide technical applications support, troubleshooting, and customer training.
• Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles to dimensional inspection.
• Work with touch probes, analog scanning probes, and laser scanning technologies.
• Assist customers with measurement strategies, software programming, and process improvements.
• Support equipment demonstrations, installations, and technical training at customer facilities.
• Collaborate with engineering and applications teams to resolve complex metrology challenges.
• Learn and support additional measurement technologies and software platforms.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with CMM programming and dimensional metrology.
• Proficiency in CAMIO, PolyWorks, PC-DMIS, CMM Manager, or comparable metrology software .
• Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and dimensional inspection.
• Ability to independently develop and troubleshoot CMM programs.
• Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to explain technical concepts and provide training or support to customers.
• Willingness to travel 50% or more throughout the United States.
• Ability to work onsite in New Hudson, Michigan, particularly during initial training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced experience with CAMIO or PolyWorks.
• Experience with multiple CMM programming platforms.
• Knowledge of laser scanning, analog scanning probes, or advanced measurement technologies.
• Previous experience in applications engineering, technical support, or customer training.
• Experience demonstrating metrology equipment or supporting equipment installations.
• Interest in learning emerging technologies such as confocal measurement and industrial CT scanning.
