Job Role & Responsibility: CMM Programmer

Roles Responsibilities:

Ensure that CMM machines are properly maintained and functioning correctly. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting as required.

Identify and resolve issues related to CMM programming or operation, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.

Diagnose and resolve issues with the CMM, coordinating with maintenance or technical support when necessary.

Develop and write detailed programs for CMMs using software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar platforms to inspect and measure parts accurately.

Set up and calibrate the CMM for specific measurements, ensuring that the machine is properly configured for the task at hand.

Use CMM programs to inspect parts and components, verifying they meet engineering specifications and tolerances.

Verify that all measurements meet the specified tolerances and requirements outlined in engineering drawings and specifications.

Maintain accurate and organized records of all inspections, measurements, and reports for traceability and auditing purposes.

Prepare and submit inspection reports and relevant documents to customers in a timely manner, facilitating transparency and compliance.

Collaborate closely with production teams, engineers, and quality assurance personnel to address quality concerns and drive continuous improvement.

Continuously seek ways to improve CMM programming and inspection processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Train and support other team members, such as quality inspectors and machinists, in the use of CMM equipment and understanding of CMM reports and provide technical support and expertise on CMM-related issues to the broader quality and production teams.

Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures to uphold a safe working environment for all.

Requirements:

Strong understanding of CMM operation, programming, and software. Proficiency in relevant CMM programming languages and software platforms.

Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and quality standards.

Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues with the CMM.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and customer liaison.

Relevant certifications in metrology, CMM operation, or quality inspection can be advantageous.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute to shared goals.

Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and exceeding customer expectations.

2 to 4 years of prior experience in CMM programming, quality inspection, or related roles preferred.

Diploma or Graduate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required; additional technical training or certification beneficial.
