• Project & Program Leadership Lead complex, cross-functional data governance programs from initiation to rollout, including scope definition, planning, execution, and benefits realization Manage multiple workstreams (e.g. data ownership, data quality, metadata, data standards, policies & controls) with clear milestones and dependencies Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with high stakeholder satisfaction
• Data Governance Framework Design & Implementation Design or co-design data governance frameworks, including: Data ownership & stewardship models Data quality management (standards, KPIs, issue management, SLA) Data classification, lifecycle, and usage principles Business & data glossary / common data language Translate governance principles into operational processes, delivery playbooks, and tooling requirements Drive adoption by embedding governance into existing data development, analytics, and business processes
• Stakeholder & Change Management Act as a bridge between business, data, IT, security, and compliance teams Facilitate decision-making forums (e.g. data councils, working groups) and resolve conflicts pragmatically Drive change management activities to ensure governance is understood, accepted, and used, not just documented
• Delivery Governance & Execution Excellence Define clear delivery goals, KPIs, and success metrics for data governance initiatives Track progress, risks, dependencies, and issues; proactively manage escalations Ensure governance deliverables are actionable, traceable, and continuously improved based on feedback
• Continuous Improvement & Best Practices Bring in industry best practices (e.g. DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM/DCMM, ISO, etc.) and adapt them to the organization’s context Identify opportunities to simplify governance models and improve delivery efficiency Coach junior team members Required Skills & Experience Project Management Project / program management experience, with senior or lead-level accountability Proven experience managing large-scale, cross-functional initiatives Strong command of delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid) Excellent planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication skills Data Governance Expertise (Must-have) Hands-on delivery experience in data governance initiatives, not only conceptual knowledge Demonstrated ability to design data governance frameworks and lead their implementation Solid understanding of:Data ownership & stewardship, Data quality management, Metadata, data standards, and business glossary, Data lifecycle, access, and usage controls Experience working with data platforms, analytics, or data engineering teams is a strong plus Communication & Leadership Strong facilitation and influencing skills across senior stakeholders Ability to explain governance concepts in business-friendly language Comfortable leading ambiguity and navigating complex organizational environments Nice to Have Experience working in global / matrix organizations Exposure to data governance tools (e.g. metadata management, DQ platforms) Background in data, analytics, IT, or consulting Experience driving governance adoption with measurable business impact
