Assistant Director (School)

Educational Services Department
(Ref: AD-S/ESD/10-26)

PURPOSE

The overall role of the Assistant Director (School) is to oversee the development and operations of the

schools under the Educational Services Department. He/she has to plan and lead The Salvation Army

(TSA) schools in enhancing education service quality through curriculum review, improving school

management capability, deploying update tools / methodology in pedagogy, and to build up the TSA

education brand to sustain the quality and competitiveness of TSA schools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Devise strategic plans on school development, operations and manpower resources to dovetail

with the changing needs and socio-economic environment of the community.

 Oversee the operations and administration of schools via serving as Chairperson / Member in the

respective Incorporated Management Committees and other school governing bodies as required.

 Keep track of development in School Administration Guide for schools promulgated by the

Education Bureau, and any other relevant guidelines / regulations instituted by the governing

bodies, and to ensure compliance.

 Implement industry best practice on school management, staff management and service delivery

for quality enhancement.

 Explore opportunities for collaboration and application for additional resources to expand TSA’s

scope of services in education and for brand building.

 Formulate public communication strategy to build TSA brand in school education and facilitate

external communication via social media platforms.

 Develop network with school heads and industry stakeholders for information sharing and best

practice exchange.

 Ensure compliance with the rules / regulations / guidelines of the government and TSA.

 Perform any legitimate duties assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

 An understanding of the Christian faith, values and ethos of The Salvation Army.

 Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Science or related disciplines with at least 8 years of

post-degree experience in education plus 3 years’ experience in school administration, or

equivalent.

 Knowledge of school education system and related government policies of Hong Kong.

 With visions and international horizons in latest development in education and pedagogy.

 Analytical thinking with good interpersonal skills, able to build rapport.

 Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.

 Organised, detail-oriented and with good interpersonal skills.
