CNA 12 HR SHIFT

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using safe lifting practices and manual handling techniques.
• Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, ensuring proper documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Support patient transfer methods utilizing equipment like Hoyer lifts and ensure safe patient movement to prevent injury.
• Administer medications following prescribed protocols while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
• Assist with specialized care needs such as catheter care, wound management, dementia and Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and behavioral health support.
• Collaborate with nursing staff to implement care plans for patients with complex conditions including trauma (Level I & II trauma centers), ICU cases, infectious diseases, hospice needs, pediatrics, geriatrics, and post-acute care.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation using EMR/EHR systems; ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients’ families and multidisciplinary teams to promote understanding of treatment plans and patient progress.
• Support infection control protocols through aseptic techniques and proper handling of medical supplies and equipment.

Experience

• Prior experience working in critical care environments such as ICU or emergency medicine is highly valued.
• Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks is preferred.
• Experience in long-term care facilities or nursing homes with geriatric populations enhances your suitability for this role.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and medication administration is essential for delivering safe patient care.
• Background in specialized areas such as hospice care, pediatric or behavioral health settings is advantageous.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR is required; additional certifications like phlebotomy or DME are a plus.
• Proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as hospital medicine or urgent care centers while maintaining attention to detail and compassion for patients of all ages.
