Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using tools like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, accurately documenting findings in electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems).
• Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper handling and adherence to HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
• Assist with specialized care needs such as catheter care, wound management, and aseptic techniques in accordance with facility protocols.
• Engage with patients experiencing complex conditions like Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or behavioral health issues, providing compassionate support tailored to their needs.
• Collaborate effectively with nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams in acute care settings such as ICU, emergency medicine, or trauma centers.
• Use EMR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and record keeping.
• Practice safe manual handling and heavy lifting techniques to protect both patients and staff during transfers or mobility assistance.
• Communicate clearly with patients and their families about care plans while maintaining a caring and professional demeanor.

Experience

• Prior experience working as a CNA or in a healthcare setting such as long-term care facilities, hospitals, outpatient clinics, or home care is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and basic life support (BLS/CPR).
• Experience working with geriatric populations or individuals with disabilities including developmental delays or behavioral health conditions.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner is advantageous.
• Exposure to specialized areas such as ICU, emergency medicine, hospice care, or Level I/II trauma centers enhances your candidacy.
• Strong caregiving skills paired with excellent communication abilities to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safe lifting practices; physical stamina is essential for this role.
