CNA Instructor

Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant Instructor is tasked with developing and delivering comprehensive training programs for students pursuing certification as Nursing Assistants. This role requires a deep understanding of patient care principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate students. The instructor ensures that the curriculum meets all state and federal regulations and prepares students for the practical realities of working as a CNA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and implement educational programs and curriculum that meet state certification requirements for CNAs.
• Conduct classroom lectures and practical training sessions covering a wide range of topics, including basic patient care, anatomy and physiology, infection control, communication skills, and patients' rights.
• Evaluate and assess students' progress through written exams, practical exams, and coursework.
• Provide feedback and support to students to facilitate their learning and success in the program.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
• Stay updated on the latest teaching methods, educational technology, and developments in the field of nursing and patient care.
• Coordinate with healthcare facilities to arrange clinical practicum experiences for students.
• Ensure that training equipment and supplies are available and in good condition.
• Participate in faculty meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the educational program.
• Comply with all institutional policies, and state and federal regulations regarding CNA training and certification.

Qualifications:

• Valid nursing license (RN or LPN/LVN) in the state of practice.
• Bilingual Spanish (preferred)
• A minimum of two years of nursing experience, preferably with some experience in long-term care settings.
• Completion of a state-approved educator training program or willingness to complete such training upon hiring.
• Strong understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a Certified Nursing Assistant.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in educational technology and teaching methodologies.
• Ability to inspire, motivate, and educate students from diverse backgrounds.
• Commitment to professional development and staying current in the field of nursing education.

Work Environment:

• Work is primarily conducted in an educational setting such as a classroom, laboratory, or clinical training environment.
• The role may require flexibility in hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate students' schedules.
• Some travel may be required to supervise students at clinical training sites.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform and demonstrate the tasks and duties of a Certified Nursing Assistant.
• Capable of standing for extended periods while teaching or supervising clinical practice.
