Nursing Assistant Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including inpatient care, long-term care facilities, and nursing homes. This role is crucial in ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients, assisting with daily activities, and maintaining a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating. Patients are wheelchairbound.
• Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
• Provide basic patient care under the supervision of nursing staff in acute care settings.
• Administer medication as directed by healthcare professionals while adhering to aseptic techniques.
• Lift and transfer patients safely using proper techniques and equipment.
• Assist with the management of durable medical equipment (DME) as needed.
• Support infection control measures by following protocols for infectious disease care.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, especially children when applicable.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in patient areas to promote a safe environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Nursing Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
• Knowledge of inpatient care procedures and long-term care practices.
• Familiarity with medication administration protocols and aseptic techniques.
• Ability to lift patients safely and assist with mobility needs.
• Experience working with children is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
• Certification as a Nursing Assistant or completion of an accredited nursing assistant program is preferred.
