CNC Engineer

About the role

The Finishing Process Engineer is responsible for developing, controlling, and improving finishing processes for landscape and architectural lighting components. The role focuses on achieving consistent surface appearance, workmanship, quality, corrosion resistance, productivity, and cost efficiency for aluminum, stainless steel, brass, and other metal components used in outdoor lighting products. The Engineer will provide technical support to technician and work closely with Quality, R&D, Purchasing, and suppliers to resolve finishing-related issues and support new product introduction.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, establish, and optimize finishing processes including deburring, grinding, polishing, brushing, buffing, cleaning, and surface preparation.
• Establish process parameters, SOPs, work instructions, workmanship standards, and approved appearance samples.
• Control cosmetic defects such as scratches, dents, burrs, polishing marks, uneven brushing, stains, discoloration, and other appearance defects.
• Provide daily technical support and troubleshooting for finishing production processes.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions for recurring quality issues.
• Support surface treatment processes including anodizing, powder coating, painting, plating, and passivation.
• Work with Quality and R&D to improve corrosion resistance and outdoor durability of lighting components.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by reviewing finishing requirements, conducting trials, establishing process parameters, and preparing appearance standards.
• Improve process yield, productivity, cycle time, consumable usage, and manufacturing cost.
• Work with external finishing and surface-treatment suppliers to resolve technical and quality issues.

About you

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
• Preferably 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of metal finishing processes such as grinding, polishing, brushing, buffing, and deburring.
• Familiarity with aluminum, stainless steel, brass, and other metal materials.
• Able to understand engineering drawings and product specifications.
• Good communication, coordination, and technical reporting skills.
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
