Job Description

We are a manufacturing company based in Sharjah looking for an experienced CNC Lathe Machine Operator to join our Metal Section.

The candidate should have practical experience operating CNC lathe machines, reading engineering drawings, measuring machined components accurately, and making basic CNC program and offset adjustments directly from the machine control panel.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate CNC lathe machines safely and efficiently.
• Perform basic CNC lathe machine setup before production.
• Load and secure workpieces correctly in the machine chuck.
• Set and check cutting tools and tool positions.
• Understand basic standard CNC G-Code and M-Code.
• Make minor CNC program edits directly from the machine control panel.
• Set and adjust Tool Offsets.
• Set and adjust Work Offsets / Work Zero.
• Perform Tool Wear Offset adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Understand and work with X-axis and Z-axis offsets.
• Perform common CNC turning operations including:
• Turning
• Facing
• Drilling
• Boring
• Grooving
• Parting
• Chamfering
• Threading
• Read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Understand dimensions, tolerances, diameters, lengths, threads, and surface requirements.
• Check the first manufactured part before continuing batch production.
• Inspect components during production to ensure dimensions remain within tolerance.
• Identify dimensional deviations and make minor offset corrections when required.
• Monitor cutting tool and insert wear and replace tools when necessary.
• Understand basic machining parameters including:
• Spindle Speed / RPM
• Feed Rate
• Depth of Cut
• Maintain the CNC lathe and surrounding work area in clean and safe condition.
• Report machine, tooling, or quality problems to the supervisor.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 3 year of practical CNC lathe operating experience.
• Basic understanding of CNC programming, G-Code, and M-Code.
• Ability to make minor program edits directly at the machine control panel.
• Good understanding of:
• Tool Offset
• Work Offset
• Tool Wear Offset
• X and Z Axis Offset
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Good understanding of machining dimensions and tolerances.
• Proficient in the use of Vernier Caliper.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools such as:
• Outside Micrometer
• Inside Micrometer or Bore Gauge
• Depth Gauge
• Thread Gauge / Thread Pitch Gauge
• Ability to inspect outside diameters, inside diameters, lengths, grooves, and threads accurately.
• Basic knowledge of cutting inserts, cutting tools, and tool holders.
• Ability to perform basic CNC lathe setup and tool changing.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to dimensional accuracy.
• Ability to follow production, quality, and safety procedures.

Preferred Skills

• Experience machining Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, or similar engineering materials.
• Experience with different lathe inserts and tool holders.
• Experience with internal and external threading.
• Familiarity with first-piece inspection procedures.
• Basic ability to identify machining problems such as poor surface finish, tool wear, chatter, or dimensional variation.
