CNC Lathe Programmer / Setup Machinist

Overview

Diversified Tools and Machines Inc. (DTM) is a custom machine shop specializing in the manufacturing of high-quality rubber molds and custom tooling.

We are looking for an experienced CNC Lathe Programmer / Setup Machinist who takes pride in their work and enjoys taking a job from engineering prints / models through programming, setup, machining, inspection, and completion.

This is a hands-on position for someone who can work independently, solve machining challenges, and take ownership of the quality of their work.

What You'll Do

• Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes
• Create and modify CNC programs using Mastercam
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
• Select appropriate tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and cutting conditions
• Set tools and work offsets and make necessary adjustments
• Inspect parts and make dimensional corrections to maintain quality
• Identify and troubleshoot machining problems
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections
• Work independently while communicating effectively with the team
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Meet customer quality requirements and schedules
• Take ownership of the quality of your finished work

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of CNC lathe setup and operation experience
• CNC/CAM programming experience
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Working knowledge of GD&T
• Knowledge of tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and cutting conditions
• Experience using precision measuring instruments
• Mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to learn and take on new challenges

Preferred Qualifications

• Mastercam experience
• Experience creating CNC programs from scratch
• Experience machining tight-tolerance parts
• Experience with live tooling or Y-axis machining

Mastercam experience is preferred, but we are willing to consider experienced CNC machinists with other CAM programming experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. periodically
• Ability to safely handle heavier items with assistance or appropriate lifting equipment
