CNC Long-Turning Machinist

Job Overview/Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Long-Turning Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate Long-bed CNC lathes primarily, but may have to operate other types of production machines as well including grinders and mills. Supervisory Responsibilties:

None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Set up and operate Long-bed CNC lathes, including adjusting guide brushings, setting jaws, installing live toolings, working with steady rests and tailstocks.

· Proficiency in operating Siemens Sinumerik control. Including setting work offsets, tool offsets, etc.

· Read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T schematics.

· Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using high-precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, etc.

· Diagnose and resolve machining issues, including tool deflection, vibration, material drift, and surface finish imperfections.

· Perform routine preventative maintenance on machines.

· Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.

· Strong proficiency in reading blueprints and interpreting GD&T.

· Ability to understand G-code.

· Ability to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation.

· Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

· Strong desire to continuously learn and improve skills.

· Familiarity with converting measurements, calculating and inputting machine offsets, performing tool wear compensations, etc.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Minimum 3-5 years of experience setting up and operating Long Bed Turning machines

o Large diameter check experience, > 25” diameter

o Shaft machining experience

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.

· Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at a time.

· Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 55.0 – 60.0 per week
