CNC Machinist

Job Summary

Set up and operate Eurotech or Okuma mill-turn machines for the aerospace & defense industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set-up and operate CNC lathes (6 axis mill-turn CNC) and Mills (3 and 5 axis).
• Inspect completed work for conformance to drawings and specs using a variety of measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, radius pins, thread gages and height gages.
• Working with the team, drive continuous process improvement: like set up time reduction (SMED), improve Cycle Times and reducing waste.
• Monitor machines, change tools, deburr parts and record data on production travelers.
• Accurately complete job paperwork and part documentation.
• Identify machining issues, coordinate with support staff and adjust equipment when warranted.
• REQUIREMENTS:
• A minimum of 5 years’ relevant aerospace or precision machine shop experience.
• Requires expert-level proficiency in machining and metrology.
• Solid understanding of aerospace drawings and GD&T tolerancing.
• A Team Player: great interpersonal skills applicable to small team dynamics.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

• In-depth understanding of machining processes (milling and turning) with Okuma or Eurotech mill-turn CNC equipment preferred.
• Strong knowledge of CNC and conventional machining, fixturing, and tooling.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Flexibility to work overtime or extended hours when needed to meet schedule.
• Basic shop math skills, ability to read prints and work with fixtures.
• Knowledge of cutting tools and machining techniques.

Physical Demands

• This position is in a climate controlled environment.
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Regularly lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 per hour
