What they need

Company Overview:

EXP Fabrication is a growing manufacturing company providing metal fabrication, production, and finishing services for customers across multiple industries. Our work ranges from structural fabrication to specialized production processes, with a focus on delivering consistent, high-quality results. We pride ourselves on delivering tailored solutions that are effective, high quality, and cost conscious, ensuring our customers receive dependable results they can rely on.

Job Summary:

The Machinist plays a key role in producing precision parts and components for our customers. This position is responsible for setting up, and operating both mills and lathes, turning drawings into finished parts that meet high standards. The right person for this role genuinely enjoys machining, pays close attention to the details, and takes pride in a clean, well-organized process from setup to final inspection.

We are looking for someone who sees this as more than a job. As our company grows, we see this role growing with it, and we are looking for an individual who could one day lead our machining department. That means someone who is always learning, thinks ahead about how the work can be done better, and is excited about building something long-term with a team that is invested in their success.

We value people who carry themselves with integrity, own their results (both the wins and the mistakes), and are honest about where they still have room to grow. The best fit is someone who is confident in their skills, just as focused on helping the people around them improve, and brings a positive, steady presence to the shop floor.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Set up and operate mills and lathes to produce parts according to blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

· Write, edit, and prove out CNC programs to produce quality parts efficiently.

· Select appropriate tooling, workholding, speeds, and feeds for each job.

· Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings.

· Perform first-article and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments to ensure parts meet tolerances.

· Monitor machines during operation, recognizing changes in sound, finish, or tool wear and adjusting before problems occur.

· Troubleshoot machining issues and identify the root causes of quality or process problems.

· Look for ways to improve setups, cycle times, tooling, and processes.

· Plan and prioritize machining work to meet production schedules.

· Perform routine machine maintenance and keep machines, tools, and work areas clean and organized.

· Document setups, programs, and process notes so jobs can be repeated consistently.

· Share knowledge and help train others in machining practices.

· Support other areas of the shop as job and production needs change.

· Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

· Ability to program CNC machines and make program edits at the machine.

· Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, speeds, and feeds.

· Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T.

· Ability to accurately use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

· Excellent organizational and time management skills.

· Ability to recognize bottlenecks and hindrances to workflow.

· Dependability

· Great communication and teamwork skills.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Machining experience in a production or job shop environment, including both milling and turning, required. (2-5 years)

· Experience with CAD/CAM software preferred.

· Completion of a machining or manufacturing technology program is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods standing and walking.

· Must be physically able to bend, reach, and handle parts and tooling.

· Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time.

· Ability to work in a shop environment with noise, coolant, and metal chips while wearing required PPE.

Who Thrives Here

· Individuals who are genuinely excited about machining and always looking to learn more

· Those who stay focused and present on the shop floor, paying close attention to their machines and their work

· Team players who are confident in their abilities while putting the team’s success first

· People who own their mistakes, learn from them, and help others improve along the way

· Individuals looking for a long-term opportunity to grow with the company and step into greater responsibility

We are a small, close-knit team where everyone’s contribution matters. For the right person, this role is an opportunity to put your skills to work, keep growing your craft, and help shape the future of our machining department. If that sounds like the next step you’re looking for, we want to hear from you.
