CNC Machinist

Job Summary In this role, you will set and operate CNC milling machines and Surface Grinders in the manufacture and repair of elastomer & plastic moulds, press-tools and other tooling components.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Set & Operate CNC milling machines (3 & 4 axis)
• Set & Operate CNC/NC surface grinders
• Carry out in process Quality Inspections and rectify/escalate Quality issues
• Comply with all corporate and local site Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures and regulations
• Comply with all machine instructions and ensure proper use of equipment and assets
• Comply with all process work instructions, control plans, maintenance and safety schedules
• Read, understand & interpret Engineering drawings correctly
• Act in accordance with the Company’s Code of Conduct and Guiding Principles

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience required

Work Experience

• No min required 0 - 2 years of relevant work experience required
• Prior manufacturing experience in an industrial setting (pharmaceutical industry experience preferred) required
• Experience with using SolidWorks and AutoCAD required

Required Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Experience in setting & operation of CNC equipment
• Familiarity and experience in on-machine programming
• Familiarity and experience of use of measuring equipment
• Familiarity and experience of interpreting Engineering drawings
• Familiarity and experience of modern cutting tools and techniques
• Experience and conversant PC user

Desirable

• Experience in Fanuc machine tool controls
• Experience in multi-axis machine tools
• Experience in elastomer mould, plastic mould and press-tool manufacture
• Experience in conventional toolroom machinery (mills, lathes, surface grinders)
• Knowledge of other toolroom machinery (cylindrical grinders, EDM, WEDM)
• Experience in automation processes & database managed machine tools
• Experience of “Lean Manufacturing” techniques
• Experienced in Offline programming & part verification

Travel Requirements 5%: Up to 13 business days per year

Physical Requirements Sedentary-Exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
