CNC Machinist / Setter

About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Machinist / Setter to join our team at Acot Precision Engineering Pte Ltd. This is a full-time position based in the Commonwealth Central Region. As a CNC Machinist / Setter, you will play a crucial role in our manufacturing operations, responsible for setting up, programming, and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision components. This position is essential to maintaining our reputation for quality and precision in the mechanical engineering sector, and you will directly contribute to the success of our production operations.

Key responsibilities

1. Set up and prepare CNC machines for production runs, including installing tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices
2. Program CNC machines using CAM software and manual coding techniques to create components according to technical drawings and specifications
3. Operate CNC machines including mills, lathes, and multi-axis equipment to machine precision parts from various materials
4. Monitor machine operations and make real-time adjustments to ensure components meet required tolerances and quality standards
5. Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments and verify compliance with drawings and specifications
6. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines to minimise downtime and ensure optimal performance
7. Maintain accurate production records, including cycle times, material usage, and machine performance data
8. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve production issues and implement process improvements
9. Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental procedures within the workshop environment

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience as a CNC Machinist / Setter, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a manufacturing or precision engineering environment
2. Proficiency in operating CNC mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines
3. Strong knowledge of CAM software and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings
4. Competency in manual CNC programming or the ability to write and edit CNC code
5. Familiarity with precision measurement tools such as micrometres, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
6. Understanding of machining processes, materials, and tooling selection
7. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment
9. Strong communication skills and commitment to continuous improvement
10. Relevant certifications in CNC machining or mechanical engineering (preferred but not essential)
