CNC Maintenance Apprentice

Overview

As a CNC Maintenance Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced technicians, assisting with preventive maintenance, machine repairs, inspections, and general service work. You will gain hands-on experience working with a variety of CNC machines, primarily Okuma and Fanuc-controlled equipment, while developing the skills needed to grow into a CNC Maintenance Technician.

No previous CNC or maintenance experience is required. We are looking for someone who is dependable, enjoys working with their hands, has a willingness to learn, and takes pride in their work.

This position involves traveling to customer facilities throughout Southern California and working in active manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced technicians with preventive maintenance on CNC machines.
• Help clean and maintain machine components, coolant tanks, filters, lubrication systems, and other equipment.
• Learn the basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems used in CNC machinery.
• Assist with machine inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment installations under technician supervision.
• Learn to properly use hand tools, power tools, and specialized maintenance equipment.
• Assist with machine testing and inspections, including ballbar testing and alignment procedures.
• Help organize tools, parts, materials, and equipment needed for service jobs.
• Assist with completing service reports, preventive maintenance checklists, and other documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow instructions, safety procedures, and company standards while working at customer facilities.
• Participate in hands-on training and continuously develop technical knowledge and skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school or coursework in industrial maintenance or electrical systems is a plus.
• Basic understanding of mechanical knowledge
• Good communication skills in English; ability to follow instructions clearly and work effectively within a team.
• Ability to work safely and professionally in customer facilities.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations throughout Southern California, with occasional overnight and weekend travel.
• Ability to bend, twist, stoop, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in industrial environments around machinery, noise, lubricants, coolants, and metal chips while wearing required protective equipment.
• A valid driver’s license is required
• Valid certification or experience operating forklifts or similar equipment is beneficial but not required.
• This paid apprenticeship provides comprehensive training in industrial maintenance practices while fostering your growth into a skilled technician capable of handling complex machinery repairs. Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
