CNC Maintenance Technician

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Tool Maintenance Technician to join our facility maintenance team in Beverly, MA. In this role, you will install, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on complex multi-axis CNC machine tools — including milling centers, lathes, grinding machines, gear shapers/hobbers, and robotic automation cells. Working closely with production operations and manufacturing engineering, you will ensure high machine uptime, maintain tight mechanical tolerances, and minimize unscheduled downtime across our modern machining facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on multi-axis CNC machines (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, Okuma, Mazak controls)
• Repair and replace mechanical components including ball screws, linear guides, spindle cartridges, tool changers, and servo drives
• Troubleshoot 3-phase power, PLC I/O modules, servo motors, encoders, and control wiring using schematics and diagnostic software
• Rebuild and maintain hydraulic pumps, valves, cylinders, pneumatic systems, coolant units, and centralized lubrication systems
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on CNC equipment and perform laser interferometer calibration and ballbar testing to sub-micron tolerances
• Log all maintenance activities, work orders, and downtime metrics in CMMS; manage spare parts inventory for critical CNC components
• Ensure strict compliance with LOTO, arc flash, PPE, and OSHA standards while driving root cause analysis and reliability improvements

Required Qualifications:

• 4–7+ years of hands-on experience in industrial electro-mechanical maintenance with a strong emphasis on CNC machine tool repair in a high-precision manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting major CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, Mitsubishi, etc.).
• Strong proficiency in reading electrical schematics, ladder logic, hydraulic circuit diagrams, and mechanical assembly drawings.
• Skilled in using digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, indicators, micrometer sets, precision levels, and diagnostic software.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) practices, and electrical safety (NFPA 70E concepts).
• High School Diploma/GED required; trade school diploma, technical certification, or Associate degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Electronics, or Mechanical Technology is highly preferred
