CNC Mill Set-Up Operator

Job Overview

InnoTech Manufacturing is seeking a skilled CNC Mill Set-Up Operator to set up and operate CNC milling machines to produce precision parts. The ideal candidate has experience with 5-axis machining and familiarity with GROB G550/G350, Mori Seiki, and Haas VF series vertical milling machines.

This position requires strong setup skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely while meeting quality and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently set up and operate CNC mills for new and repeat production jobs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, work instructions, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Install and align fixtures, workholding devices, cutting tools, and toolholders.
• Establish and verify work offsets and tool offsets.
• Perform program prove-outs using approved procedures, including single-block operation and controlled feed rates.
• Inspect first-piece and in-process parts using precision measuring instruments.
• Adjust offsets and replace tooling as needed to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Recognize and troubleshoot issues involving tool wear, chatter, workholding, and machining performance.
• Coordinate with programmers, supervisors, and Quality Control to resolve setup and production issues.
• Make authorized minor program edits within established procedures.
• Complete production records and document inspection results accurately.
• Perform routine operator maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Follow safety procedures and report equipment concerns promptly.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines.
• Ability to complete setups independently and verify that parts meet specifications.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and understand machining tolerances.
• Working knowledge of cutting tools, workholding, feeds and speeds, and machining practices.
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other precision inspection tools.
• Ability to recognize machining problems and communicate effectively with the team.
• Dependable attendance and strong attention to safety, quality, and productivity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience setting up and operating 5-axis CNC mills.
• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following:
• GROB G550 and G350
• Mori Seiki CNC mills
• Haas VF series vertical milling machines
• Familiarity with CNC controls used on the listed equipment.
• Experience with complex workholding, tight-tolerance parts, and first-piece inspection.
• Experience using tool or workpiece probing systems.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with machinery, noise, and exposure to cutting fluids. Duties involve standing for extended periods, walking, bending, reaching, and handling tools and materials. Required personal protective equipment must be worn. Essential functions may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

Pay: $21.48 - $34.76 per hour
