About Gravity Manufacturing

Gravity Manufacturing is a growing manufacturer in Pittsburg, Missouri, serving the energy industry and preparing for future aerospace work. We continue to invest in our employees, advanced CNC equipment, robotics, and practical process improvements. We value people who take ownership of quality, keep learning, and care for the equipment and team around them.

Position Summary

Gravity Manufacturing is hiring a CNC Operator I to run established production jobs, inspect parts, and keep assigned machines supplied, clean, and productive. This role is a good fit for someone building a machining career who is dependable, attentive, and willing to learn the correct way to do the work.

You will work under a Shift Supervisor and receive training on our equipment, loading procedures, inspection requirements, and production system. Advancement is based on demonstrated skill and consistent work habits.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Load and unload CNC machines using approved procedures. Check material type, lot identification, stock dimensions, and correct seating before starting each cycle.

  • Monitor assigned machines and established robot cells. Prepare the next load and report interruptions promptly so equipment does not sit unattended.

  • Check parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, go/no-go gauges, and other basic inspection tools. Complete first-part checks and required in-process inspections on time.

  • Enter actual inspection results, production counts, and lot information in our MRP production system. Keep material and finished-part containers correctly identified.

  • Recognize and report tool wear, abnormal sounds, poor finish, dimensional changes, alarms, and quality concerns. Bring machine errors to the supervisor for resolution.

  • Stage approved material for robot cells and monitor their output after qualified personnel have started the process.

  • Use machine cycle time to inspect parts, stage material, clean, and complete assigned tasks while maintaining attention to equipment.

  • Complete assigned lubrication and fluid checks, cleaning, basic machine care, counter procedures, and accurate end-of-shift handoffs within your training.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to follow written work instructions, use basic shop math, and understand dimensions and inspection requirements.

  • Ability to use basic measuring tools accurately, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

  • Attention to detail and the discipline to complete inspections and records without repeated reminders.

  • Dependable attendance, clear communication, and willingness to ask for help when something is outside your training.

  • Comfort using tablets or computers for production and quality records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CNC production experience, machining coursework, or related manufacturing experience.

  • Experience following material identification, inspection, and machine-cleaning procedures.

Schedule

  • Night shift: Monday through Thursday, 5:00 p.m.-3:00 a.m.

  • Four 10-hour shifts; full-time, in-person work in Pittsburg, Missouri.

  • Overtime may be available based on production needs and management approval.

Why Join Gravity Manufacturing?

  • Health insurance, life insurance, and paid time off.

  • 401(k) with matching.

  • Professional development assistance and practical technical training.

  • Access to advanced CNC equipment, robotics, and manufacturing technology.

  • Semiannual performance reviews and skill-based advancement opportunities.
