What they need

Step into a day shaping precision metal parts

When you start your shift, you’ll review the job queue, select tooling, and configure mechanical, hydraulic, and CNC-controlled press brakes for the day’s runs. You’ll pull the required material, set up backgauges, and complete a first-article check—using measurement gauges and your blueprint-reading skills—to verify tolerances. From there, you’ll run production to process, keep a close eye on quality, and make smart adjustments to hit drawing specs.

What you’ll do

  • Set up, run, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, and CNC press brakes.
  • Operate strictly to established processes and procedures.
  • Determine which parts/jobs to run and complete machine setups accordingly.
  • Retrieve, load, and unload specified materials and parts.
  • Produce parts to drawing tolerances; adjust programs, tooling, and setups as needed.
  • Verify quality and conformance to specifications; communicate proactively.
  • Advise your supervisor and QC of any quality issues as they arise.
  • Interpret drawings and measure parts to drawings using precision instruments.
  • Use safety devices as prescribed by the manufacturer or MEP.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and tooling; assist with repairs as required.
  • Ensure the safe work habits of any associate you assign to a job you or another set-up person has set up.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and train others to do the same.
  • Detail the quality inspection required by any associate you assign to a job that you or another set-up person has set up.
  • Maintain 5S responsibilities of assigned work areas.

Education & experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One to two years of related press brake or metal fabrication experience and/or training.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience considered.

Skills that set you up for success

  • Proficient in English with solid grammar and documentation habits.
  • Math fluency: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions.
  • Comfort using formulas, charts, tables, specifications, schedules, drawings, and wiring diagrams, along with adjustable measuring instruments.
  • Ability to handle the job’s administrative duties (paperwork, inspection documentation).
  • Sound judgment to plan sequences of setups, operations, and processes within recognized standard methods and procedures.
  • Moderate physical effort, including frequently lifting or moving material up to 50 lbs.
