Job Overview
As a CNC Programmer, you’ll turn engineering designs into precise, production-ready machining programs. You’ll work with manufacturing teams to plan setups, select tooling, and refine processes for CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and 5-axis CNC machines. Your impact: Accurate programming and quality checks help production teams make reliable parts that meet design requirements.
Duties
- Create and revise CNC programs using CAM software and CAD software, including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and engineering designs; apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to define part requirements.
- Plan machining tool setup, CNC tooling, and toolpaths for metal machining, including electrical discharge machining when needed.
- Set up and support CNC machining operations; use Fanuc controls and troubleshoot programming or process issues.
- Verify parts using a coordinate measuring machine, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring instruments; document quality-control measurements and support lean manufacturing improvements.
Requirements
- Experience with CNC programming, CAM programming, machining, or programming in engineering; familiarity with manufacturing processes and CNC equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints and apply mechanical knowledge, geometry, and math to machining and engineering CAD design.
- Knowledge of CNC milling, CNC lathe operations, 5-axis CNC machines, tooling, and precision measurement in machining.
- Familiarity with CAD, CAM, Fanuc controls, and measurement methods; experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or electrical discharge machining is an asset.
- Comfortable interpreting mechanical blueprints and schematics and using measurement tools to confirm part quality.
