CNC Milling Setup & Programming Lead

About the Position

Micro Machine & Design is seeking an experienced CNC Milling Setup & Programming Lead with at least 3 years of CNC machining experience to join our team. This hands-on role is responsible for developing and maintaining CNC programs, setting up and operating vertical machining centers, and producing high-quality precision components to exact specifications.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of CNC programming, machining processes, and precision measurement. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays close attention to detail, enjoys solving machining challenges, and is committed to producing quality parts safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll take ownership of CNC milling setups and programming while working closely with the team to maintain quality, improve processes, and meet production goals. Key responsibilities include:

• Write, maintain, and optimize CNC programs using G-code and/or Mastercam.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC vertical machining centers.
• Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and machining instructions.
• Select tooling, establish work offsets, and build or modify fixtures and workholding as needed.
• Make tool wear and offset adjustments to maintain tight tolerances, including ±0.0005".
• Optimize feeds, speeds, and machining processes to improve quality and efficiency.
• Perform first-article and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
• Maintain accurate job documentation and keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Collaborate with teammates to improve quality and productivity while providing support wherever needed.

Preferred qualifications include:

• 3+ years of CNC machining experience, including setup and programming.
• Experience with G-code and/or Mastercam.
• Experience with CNC vertical machining centers and Fanuc and/or Haas controls.
• Proficiency in machine setup, tooling selection, and work offsets.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and comparators.
• Strong basic shop math skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Programming experience beyond standard machine operation is a plus. A willingness to learn, a commitment to quality, and a positive team attitude are equally important.

Work Location: In person

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
