About the Role

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programming Manager to lead and manage a team of five CNC Programmers within a precision engineering environment.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical CNC programming experience with excellent leadership and organisational skills. They will be responsible for overseeing programming activities, supporting the team technically, and ensuring efficient, high-quality programmes are produced for 3-, 4- and 5-axis CNC machining.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and support a team of 5 CNC Programmers.
• Plan and coordinate daily programming activities and priorities.
• Develop and optimise CNC programmes for 3-axis and 5-axis machining.
• Programme using hyperMILL, Fusion 360 or similar CAD/CAM software.
• Review and improve existing CNC programmes to optimise cycle times, tooling and machining strategies.
• Work closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to resolve technical issues.
• Ensure programmes are accurate, efficient and suitable for production.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to CNC Programmers.
• Monitor workload, deadlines and programming capacity within the team.
• Support the introduction of new components, machinery and machining processes.
• Promote continuous improvement in programming methods and machining efficiency.
• Ensure programming standards, documentation and best practices are maintained.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a CNC Programmer, ideally with experience progressing into a senior or supervisory role.
• Strong experience programming 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines.
• Experience with hyperMILL, Fusion 360 or similar CAD/CAM software.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling and cutting strategies.
• Experience working within a precision engineering or high-quality manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Previous experience managing, supervising or mentoring a team is highly desirable.

This role would suit an experienced CNC Programmer or Senior CNC Programmer who is ready to take the next step into a management position, or an existing CNC Programming Manager / Team Leader looking for a new challenge.
