CNC Programmer/Setter

About the role

JHM Engineering SDN BHD is seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Programmer/Setter to join our engineering team. This is a full-time position based in Batu Maung, Penang. As a CNC Programmer/Setter, you will play a crucial role in our manufacturing operations, responsible for programming, setting up, and optimising CNC machines to produce precision components. This position is essential to maintaining our production efficiency, quality standards, and meeting customer delivery schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Program CNC machines using appropriate software and coding languages to produce components according to engineering drawings and specifications
• Set up and configure CNC machines, including tool installation, workholding devices, and machine calibration
• Conduct test runs and trial cuts to verify program accuracy and component quality before full production runs
• Monitor machine operations during production, making real-time adjustments to optimise cutting speeds, feeds, and coolant application
• Perform quality checks and measurements using precision instruments to ensure components meet specified tolerances and standards
• Troubleshoot machine errors and programming issues, implementing corrective actions to minimise downtime
• Maintain detailed records of program files, setup procedures, and production parameters for future reference
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines to ensure optimal performance and longevity
• Collaborate with production supervisors and engineering teams to interpret technical drawings and implement design changes
• Continuously improve machining processes and techniques to enhance productivity and reduce waste

What we're looking for

• Minimum 1-5 years of proven experience as a CNC Programmer/Setter in a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment
• Strong proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code
• Hands-on experience with CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and multi-axis machines
• Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, mechanical principles, and precision machining techniques
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications accurately
• Proficiency with CNC programming software and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) systems
• Knowledge of precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometres, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues efficiently
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
• Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks in a manufacturing setting
• Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in CNC programming or machining are preferred
• Experience with additional programming software such as Mastercam or Solidworks is advantageous
