This is a chance to take full ownership of mould CNC programming for a global automotive components manufacturer in Johor.
About the client
Mills Recruitment is partnering with a leading global automotive components manufacturer to hire a CNC Programming Engineer based at its manufacturing facility in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia, supporting precision mould making for automotive components.
The role

• Develop CNC machining programs for mould cavities, cores and inserts using UG (Siemens NX), including toolpaths, NC programs, process sheets and tooling lists.
• Review mould drawings and plan machining processes, including tooling, fixtures, machining sequences and cutting parameters.
• Operate CNC machines, run program trials and verify toolpaths for accuracy and efficiency.
• Troubleshoot machining issues such as tool vibration, overcutting, dimensional deviations and surface defects.
• Optimise toolpath strategies to shorten machining cycles, extend tool life and control costs.
• Provide on-site technical support throughout the mould machining process, and maintain program version control and documentation.
• Work with the Mould Design and Tooling teams on machining challenges and mould trial modifications.

About you
Must-haves:

• At least 3 years of CNC programming experience for moulds, dies or tooling (5+ years preferred). Candidates with product CNC programming experience will also be considered.
• Proficiency in UG (Siemens NX) for 2D/3D mould programming, with the ability to program a complete mould independently.
• Hands-on experience operating CNC machining centres, including milling tools and cutting parameters.
• Ability to read 2D/3D mould and engineering drawings, including GD&T.
• Knowledge of mould steels such as P20, 718H and S136 and their machining characteristics.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for machining accuracy, tolerance and surface quality issues.

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience programming plastic injection or die-casting moulds.
• Familiarity with additional CNC programming software such as Mastercam or PowerMill.
• Experience in automotive component mould manufacturing.
