CNC Service Technician

Duties

• Perform routine inspections, calibrations, and preventive maintenance on CNC machines to uphold safety standards and operational efficiency.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation issues using electrical schematics, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and schematics.
• Diagnose electrical problems through the use of voltmeters, ohmmeters, sensors, and other precision measuring instruments; implement effective repairs.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, control system diagrams, and engineering troubleshooting documents to identify root causes.
• Program, calibrate, and optimize industrial controls such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and vision inspection systems to enhance machine performance.
• Conduct equipment troubleshooting involving electrical instrumentation, sensors, vision systems, high voltage systems, and low voltage controls to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with engineering teams using AutoCAD or similar software to review or modify electrical wiring diagrams and schematics for system upgrades or repairs.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with electrical safety procedures and industry standards for electrical safety procedures.
• Support installation projects by reading engineering drawings and schematics; assist in commissioning new equipment including calibration and testing.
• Provide excellent customer service by communicating technical information clearly to clients or team members; document all service activities thoroughly.

Experience

• Proven experience working as an industrial electrician or maintenance technician with a focus on CNC machinery or industrial automation systems.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, and industrial controls including sensors, actuators, valves, and piping systems.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical systems using diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, Calypso software (or similar), and vision inspection systems.
• Familiarity with programming in engineering environments for PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) such as Siemens or Allen-Bradley controllers.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, schematics diagrams, and electrical blueprints confidently.
• Experience working with calibration procedures for precision measuring instruments; ability to perform equipment calibration accurately.
• Knowledge of industrial maintenance practices including preventive maintenance planning and equipment troubleshooting techniques.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures related to high voltage and low voltage systems in industrial settings.
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software for reviewing or creating wiring diagrams; familiarity with electrical instrumentation is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance tasks; ability to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
