At Manulife, we believe in investing in the future, starting with you. Our Co-op Internship Program is your launchpad to success, providing the support, structure, and meaningful opportunities you need to learn, grow, and make an impact. More than just a work experience, you'll become part of a vibrant intern community, participate in engaging events, and benefit from clear goals, regular feedback, and structured support to help you succeed from day one.
As a Tech Placement Intern, you will join one of our Hong Kong-based technology teams supporting the local or regional business priorities. You will contribute to meaningful initiatives and gain hands-on experience across a dynamic technology environment. Depending on your assigned team, you may gain experience in areas such as:
Technology strategy and project delivery
Business analysis and digital transformation
Software development and digital platforms
AI, automation and innovation
Technology operations and service delivery
You will work alongside business and technology partners, receive guidance from experienced professionals, and develop practical skills in problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, agile delivery, and digital transformation.
As this program supports a range of technology teams, final placement decisions will be based on a combination of your assessed skills and experience, areas of interest, and available opportunities at the time of hiring.
Position Responsibilities
In your assigned team, you’ll have opportunities to:
- Support technology projects and initiatives through research, analysis, planning, coordination, documentation, and status reporting.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to understand requirements, gather information, validate findings, and support solution delivery.
- Analyze data, processes, systems, or platform performance to identify insights, risks, improvement opportunities, and potential efficiencies.
- Assist with the preparation of dashboards, reports, presentations, project updates, requirements documents, or other materials for stakeholders.
- Contribute to process improvement, digital transformation, AI, automation, innovation, or emerging-technology initiatives.
- Support solution development and delivery activities, which may include prototyping, application development, testing, User Acceptance Testing, quality review, or implementation support.
- Track assigned actions, deliverables, risks, issues, or project milestones and communicate updates clearly.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks or a defined workstream, with guidance and support from your team.
- Participate actively in team discussions and contribute ideas that improve technology, processes, digital experiences, or ways of working.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, Business, Finance, Economics, Digital Management, or another related discipline.
- Must be available to work full-time for the duration of the six-month internship program.
- Strong interest in technology, digital transformation, innovation, and the financial services industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret information and identify actionable insights.
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast- paced team environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively while taking ownership assigned work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Good written and verbal English language skills.
Preferred Qualifications
We are hiring across a range of technology functions, so preferred qualifications will vary by team. Experience or interest in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage:
- Software or application development using technologies such as Python, Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Vue, or Angular.
- Data analysis and visualization using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or similar tools.
- Artificial intelligence, large language models, prompt engineering, machine learning, automation, chatbots, or Intelligent Document Processing.
- Cloud technologies, APIs, modern application environments, DevOps fundamentals, or full-stack development.
- Business analysis, requirements gathering, process mapping, testing, or User Acceptance Testing.
- Project management concepts and tools such as Jira or Confluence.
- Digital platform analytics, customer experience measurement, performance monitoring, or industry research.
- Academic projects, extracurricular activities, or previous internship experience related to technology, analytics, project delivery, or digital solutions.
When you join our team:
- We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.
- We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words.
- As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see.
